40 Charging Points Under the Biggest Solar Carport in the Baltics

An operator for a parking lot located in Kaunas, Lithuania has partnered with Elinta Charge to launch an EV charging hub under the largest solar carport in the Baltic region. This cutting-edge facility, equipped with nearly 250 kW of solar panels, will generate over 200,000 kWh of clean energy annually, providing renewable power for 40 EV charging points.

The integration with solar panels

The solar carport is expected to serve around 4,000 EVs per year. The energy generated by the solar panels will power 20 CityCharge V2 charging stations, manufactured by Elinta Charge, each equipped with two 22 kW charging sockets.
Beyond its primary function of providing energy, the carport offers additional benefits: it provides shade for vehicles during hot summers and helps keep the parking area clear of snow in winter, reducing maintenance efforts and improving the overall experience for drivers.

Solution for controling the input load

The new Elinta Charge charging station park is connected to a power input that also supports previously installed fast-charging stations. Therefore, an intelligent Dynamic Load Management (DLM) system has been implemented along with the stations to ensure that the input load is not exceeded during charging. This system allows the stations to charge at maximum power, utilizing all renewable solar energy and any remaining input capacity.

Practical solutions for parking operators

Vaidas Bielinis, CEO of Elinta Charge, explains that parking lot operators can now optimize their facilities for EV charging. “This project demonstrates how parking lots can be turned into functional EV charging hubs, maximizing space and integrating renewable energy,” says Bielinis. “We’re seeing similar trends across Europe, especially in France and Germany, and now the Kaunas operator is setting a precedent in the Baltic region.”

Elinta Charge has been instrumental in rolling out modern EV infrastructure across Lithuania. Among its previous projects is the installation of 176 charging points at the S28 business center in Vilnius, a project completed a few years ago, which set a benchmark for EV charging solutions in the country.

Meeting today’s needs and planning for tomorrow

By partnering with Elinta Charge, the Kaunas parking lot operator has created a charging hub capable of handling current EV traffic while preparing for increased demand in the future. This project helps the operator meet the needs of EV drivers while using available space more effectively, adding long-term value to their facility.
