Installing an AC charger doesn’t have to be complicated.
In this step-by-step guide, we’ll walk you through how to install the CityCharge V2 - from unboxing to powering it up for the first time. This article highlights the key steps from our full AC charger installation tutorial video, available on our YouTube channel.
Before You Start
Make sure you have all the necessary tools and cables ready. The CityCharge V2 package includes clear orientation markings on the sides of the box — look for the top and bottom labels to ensure safe handling and correct positioning.
Mounting the Charger
Lower the charging station onto the mounting plate and secure it firmly. Tighten all four bolts to 60 Nm of torque – precision matters here for a stable, long-lasting installation.
If the charger isn’t perfectly level, use stainless steel washers to fine-tune the alignment. CityCharge V2 is compatible with TNC, TNCS, and TT systems, giving you flexibility in setup.
Connecting Cables and Network
Connect all needed cables.
If your setup includes dynamic load management, connect the twisted pair cable used for DLM smart meter integration. This ensures balanced energy use across your system.
For GSM or 4G connectivity, insert a SIM card into the modem. Be sure to:
- Disconnect the modem’s power supply and LAN cable before removal.
- Use a hex key to open the modem housing carefully.
- Insert the SIM card, reattach all components, and secure everything back in place.
Once done, reconnect the power and LAN cables. Your charger is now online and ready for smart communication.
Powering Up and Testing
Switch on the main breakers and give the charger 5–10 minutes to boot up fully. Once ready, the LCD screen will guide you through the setup.
You can start charging by:
- Flashing an RFID tag
- Tapping a bank card
- Or scanning a QR code
That’s it – your CityCharge V2 is now installed, configured, and ready to charge.
